Guillermina Yanguas highlights the priority role of recycling “in the change towards a green economy”

The Director General of Environmental Quality and Assessment and the Natural Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, Guillermina Yanguas, stressed today that “recycling has a priority role in the change towards a green economy that generates prosperity, while maintaining a healthy environment”.

This was pointed out during the inauguration of the 11th entrepreneurship meeting “Eco-innovation with recycled materials, an opportunity to undertake green”, an initiative developed by the Emprendeverde Network of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment.

Yanguas insisted during his speech that at the state level, the policy of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment during this legislature has been aimed at consolidating sustainable models of production and consumption.

He also stressed that the improvement in waste management not only brings environmental benefits, but that the generation of employment and economic development are also a consequence of the development of entrepreneurial activities.

“To achieve all these challenges in terms of waste management, it is essential to achieve the maximum collaboration of all the agents involved,” said the Director General of Environmental Quality and Assessment and the Natural Environment, who added that “both public administrations and citizens, as well as waste managers, producers and manufacturers, must continue to make progress in terms of recycling”.

These meetings, which have also had the participation of the director of the Biodiversity Foundation, Sonia Castañeda, have as their main objective to promote the creation and consolidation of companies or new lines of business in the field of ecodesign and recycling.

The event held today, focused on eco-innovation with recycled materials, is the last within the framework of collaboration signed with Ecoembes. Representatives of initiatives that are part of the Emprendeverde Network, such as ECOALF, ZICLA, OIKO and SOLTECO, participated in the event.

The entrepreneurs have told their innovative experiences in this field, and after their interventions, the attendees have had the opportunity to exchange opinions, detect new business opportunities and establish contacts between them.
