The Director General of Sustainability of the Coast and the Sea, of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, Pablo Saavedra, accompanied by technicians from his department, today presented the new App for mobile devices of the Beach Guide, in an event in which he highlighted that “our 10,000 km of coastline, with nearly 3,500 beaches, they constitute a natural heritage of incalculable value for Spain and their protection is a duty for the public authorities, to which citizens can contribute to make it effective”.
The objective of this new computer application launched by the Ministry is to provide all citizens with access to the most up-to-date and detailed information on the beaches of our coast, so that this knowledge invites their enjoyment, while favoring their care and conservation by all.
Because, as Pablo Saavedra has pointed out in this regard, “only what is known and appreciated, being aware of its fragility and importance, can awaken in citizens the vocation to protect it to guarantee its survival, both for the present generation and for future generations and that is our responsibility”.
Until now, the Beach Guide could be consulted through any computer, accessing the website of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, where it has reached 3 million consultations in the last year. All the information it brings together is constantly updated and thanks to the fact that the guide has an email address to which the user can contact, it has received contributions from citizens who have contributed to this update, to rectifications or to adding information that has improved its content.
In the Beach Guide, you can consult data such as their general characteristics, their most outstanding physical and environmental aspects, their location, the weather forecast and type of access, as well as the variety of services that are related to each beach.
APPLICATION AVAILABLE FOR FREE
In response to the demand for information that the Beach Guide has received, the Ministry has launched this tool that allows us to “place” the guide directly on our mobiles and tablets and the App is now available for free in the virtual stores of APPLE (APPLE STORE) and GOOGLE (GOOGLE PLAY).
The application presented here aims to be characterized by ease of navigation, search possibilities and, ultimately, by its usability.
The ultimate objective is to encourage all the people who enjoy our beaches to participate in their conservation as everyone’s heritage.
