The first meeting of the group of experts for the evaluation of the National Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change was held, within the framework of LIFE SHARA.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment today hosted the first meeting of the group of experts for the evaluation of the National Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change (PNACC), within the framework of the LIFE SHARA project, coordinated by the Ministry through the Biodiversity Foundation and the Spanish Office for Climate Change.
During the meeting, the advisory group, made up of experts from different fields (European institutions, the academic sector, the private sector, research, civil society, autonomous communities and the General State Administration), set out the objectives and means of the evaluation and the aspects to be evaluated throughout the process.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and the Environment, through the Spanish Office for Climate Change, has been in charge of the development of the PNACC (the strategy to promote coordinated and coherent action in the fight against the effects of climate change) since its launch in 2006. To date, four monitoring reports have been prepared, which summarize and account for the degree of development and implementation of the actions included in the work programs.
In the next fifteen months, the in-depth evaluation of the Plan will be carried out, which will include an analysis of the impact of the activities that have been carried out in the field of adaptation in Spain and their contribution to strengthening the country’s resilience to climate change.
This is the first meeting of the advisory group of the four scheduled between 2018 and 2019, when the final evaluation report and the draft of the new National Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change will be presented.
