We participated in working groups, technical sessions, exhibitions and activities at the stand of the Ministry for Ecological Transition during CONAMA 2018

November 26, 2018- The Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition, participates in the fourteenth edition of the National Congress of the Environment (CONAMA), which is being held at the Municipal Conference Center of Madrid until November 29.

The Foundation is represented in different technical sessions of the official programme, in the European area Conama Conecta, in the exhibition area, and at the stand of the Ministry for Ecological Transition (MITECO), which this year has its own programme, under the slogan #Conversamos, and in which 15 activities will be carried out with representatives of the Ministry.

Today, the director of the Biodiversity Foundation, Sonia Castañeda, participated in the technical session “Conservation and biodiversity strategies”, in the debate on conservation in different sectors, where she stressed that frameworks for dialogue and continuous participation are needed where agreements can be reached between all the actors involved.

We are also participating today in the working groups “Marine Litter” and “Companies and Biodiversity”. Tomorrow we will inherit it in “Ecodesign” and “Marine Strategies”.

This edition, CONAMA has a new space, CONAMA Conecta, a dynamic environment for business exchange, the promotion of entrepreneurship and specialized training activities. Activities of the European Area, which focuses on financing and project formulation, are also developed in this forum. Within this framework, the Foundation presented this morning the LIFE INTEMARES and MISTIC SEAS 2 projects, examples of the integration of European funds for marine conservation.

Tomorrow he will present LIFE SHARA, an awareness and knowledge initiative for adaptation to climate change. On Thursday we will participate in the training workshop of the Interreg program, telling our experience with the ECOSAFIMED project of the ENPI CBC MED program, which launched responsible practices in artisanal fisheries and the conservation of benthic ecosystems in the Mediterranean basin.

#CONVERSAMOS

The stand of the Ministry for Ecological Transition becomes in this fourteenth edition of CONAMA a close and transparent space, a place of meeting and dialogue, in which the activities of the different units of the Ministry will take place.

This space has its own programme, #Conversamos, where participatory activities will be carried out throughout the Congress. The Biodiversity Foundation organizes four sessions in this forum. Three of them will take place on Wednesday, November 28: the presentation of the Practical Guide to Ecological Restoration; the session “Talking with social agents about adaptation to climate change from LIFE SHARA”; and the final presentation of the results of the LIFE+ Desmania project. The fourth session will be held on Thursday, November 29, under the title “Science and participation, keys in marine conservation. A vision from the LIFE IP INTEMARES”. All the activity of the stand can be consulted at www.fundacion-biodiversidad.es/conama2018.

The MITECO space has a sustainable and innovative scenography built with 100% recycled, recyclable and reusable products, manufactured in Spain with certified materials. In addition, the Ministry has opted for a “zero paper” approach, dispensing with printed material, brochures, books or documents on its stand. In this way, it is not necessary to transport them and the generation of emissions in their transport is prevented.

Finally, the Biodiversity Foundation shows during all the days of the Congress the exhibition “ADAPTATION: The other fight against Climate Change”, developed within the framework of the LIFE SHARA project, which can be visited in the Strasbourg hall on the ground floor of the Municipal Conference Centre of Madrid, headquarters of CONAMA.
