Transición Ecológica launches the COP30 Generation initiative to integrate young people into the Spanish delegation to the next Climate Summit

  • It will select young people, between 18 and 29 years old, committed to climate action and with proposals that contribute to meeting the objectives of the Paris Agreement
  • Those selected will receive a training scholarship and will be able to be part of the Spanish team that will travel to Belem (Brazil) on the occasion of the Climate Summit that will take place in November

The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) is launching training grants to promote youth climate action at the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30).

This new edition of Generation Climate seeks to facilitate the participation of four young people in the next Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30) – to be held in Belém do Pará (Brazil) from 10 to 21 November – while promoting their practical training in the field of climate change.

Young people have proven to be protagonists in the global response to climate change. With innovative ideas, a strong commitment and a strong awareness of the present and the future, their participation is essential to build just, inclusive and lasting solutions.

In this context, with the conviction that young people must consolidate themselves as key actors in international climate conferences and aware of the need to strengthen the capacity for dialogue and justice between generations, the Spanish delegation will continue with the successful experience of the three previous editions.

This year, the selected people will have the opportunity to participate in COP30 through a training grant that will last a maximum of four months, from September to December 2025. During this time, the beneficiaries will be dedicated to training and participation activities coordinated by the Biodiversity Foundation and in collaboration with the Spanish Office for Climate Change and the Spanish Youth Council.

The deadline for submitting proposals is July 10. Young people between the ages of 18 and 29 may apply. The full conditions of participation and the proposal submission form can be found on the initiative’s website.
