The mission of the bioeconomy area is to promote calls for grants, initiatives and projects that promote the agroecological transition, good agricultural practices and environmental improvement in general in agricultural environments. In addition, we promote other sustainable uses in the territory such as sustainable forest management and exploitation, extensive livestock farming, or all those activities compatible with the conservation of natural resources. All this, with a special focus on the recovery of the ecological functionality of threatened wetlands such as Doñana or Mar Menor and on the sustainable territorial development of their surroundings, achieving the best use of the funds for these purposes.

The Biodiversity Foundation, in its commitment to conservation, develops strategic actions through its Bioeconomy area. This area’s mission is to promote sustainable production models that contribute to the improvement of the state of ecosystems, the efficient use of natural resources and the generation of employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in rural areas. In this context, and in accordance with the Framework of Priority Actions for the Mar Menor, the launch of a new call for aid is planned focused on reducing the
environmental impact of intensive livestock farming in the Mar Menor catchment basin, to contribute directly to the ecological recovery of an environment of great environmental value. through innovative solutions in livestock and slurry management, and the promotion of the circular economy. This call complements the aid to promote sustainability in the agricultural field launched in 2023.

With this objective, it seeks to incorporate a person who participates in the process of evaluation and technical and economic monitoring of the projects, as well as other tasks related to the management of calls, to guarantee the quality and effectiveness of the actions in the Bioeconomy area.

  • Encourage the projects managed within the framework of the calls for aid to promote an economy that benefits biodiversity and the conservation of resources and achieve impact transformations in the field of green employment, the ecological transition and the demographic challenge.
  • Elaborate the necessary tasks of analysis, identification of priorities and dissemination of results of the beneficiary projects of BF calls to the most relevant sectors and actors.
  • Monitor projects within the framework of the call to improve sustainability in the livestock sector (reduction of the pollutant load of slurry, etc.), as well as other projects related to environmental improvement in the agricultural field.
  • Accompany and assist the applicant entities during the presentation, execution, justification and settlement of the aid/projects. Justification, liquidation and payment of projects.
  • Support and participate in the tasks of participation, exchange of knowledge, generation of synergies and coordination between the projects and entities participating in the FB projects.
  • Prepare technical reports, databases, indicators and documents associated with projects, calls and initiatives in the area for reporting, communication and dissemination needs.
  • Evaluate proposals submitted to the calls for proposals.
  • To support the control and auditing processes of the activities developed.
  • Participate in the organization of working groups, conferences, meetings and events related to the area’s activities.
  • Collaborate in the elaboration and design of action proposals for the fulfillment of the objectives of the area and for the best performance of the tasks of execution, evaluation, follow-up and control of the projects.
  • Technical support in the design and preparation of new calls for grants, related to the area’s topics, as well as projects and activities of the area.
  • Monitor developments in regulations, strategies, plans, programs and projects related to the area and its activities: identification of best practices, case studies and activities, preparation of speeches and presentations, participation in publications, etc.
  • Any other function entrusted by the Headquarters, Coordination, Deputy Directorate and/or Directorate
  • University Degree (also former Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree) in Biology, Environmental Sciences, Veterinary, Geology, Forestry/Forestry Engineering, Agricultural Engineering or other Earth Sciences.
  • Experience of at least 3 years in project management related to the agricultural field, conservation, restoration and the sustainable management of natural resources.
  • University degrees such as Agricultural / Agricultural Engineering, Veterinary Medicine, or specialisations in the field of good practices and sustainability of the livestock sector.
  • Professional experience or collaboration with entities in the livestock sector and/or participation in projects and initiatives related to the improvement of environmental conditions on livestock farms, sustainable management of organic waste (slurry and manure), implementation of circular economy practices in the agricultural and livestock sector, etc.
  • Previous experience in the Mar Menor catchment basin or areas vulnerable to nitrate pollution.
  • Experience in the environmental third sector.
  • Experience of at least 2 years in technical and economic justification of projects.
  • Experience and/or training in the public sector, Public Sector Contracts Law and Subsidies Law.
  • Intermediate level of English. B2 or equivalent.
  • Immediate availability.
  • Temporary contract (interim for the replacement of a person with the right to reserve a post) in accordance with current legislation, with the professional category of 1st Grade Technician.
  • Gross Annual Salary: €32,559.07
  • Job location: Fundación Biodiversidad headquarters in Madrid.
