Coordinator (temporary) of the Bioeconomy and Natural Resources Area

Coordinate a new area for the promotion of the bioeconomy in Spain with the funds of
the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, Next Generation EU, allocated for this purpose and other
similar European funds. Promote projects and calls for aid that promote an
economy that respects planetary boundaries and benefits biodiversity, and achieve impact transformations in line with the conservation of natural heritage and rural development, in areas such as the sustainable use and management of forest resources, the agroecological transition and ecological restoration.

  • Coordinate the line of work for the promotion of the bioeconomy with European funds, supervising the tasks of the area and preparing its planning, reports and budgets.
  • To carry out close collaboration with the area of Territory and Ecosystem Services, which will execute projects with national funds.
  • Lead and manage the work team, through the organization and supervision of the assignment of tasks, as well as that of possible technical assistance.
  • Provide technical knowledge and strategic thinking for the design of the area’s own tasks in the field of calls for grants (preparation of regulatory bases, calls, specifications, forms, models and procedures) and in the field of reporting and transfer of results and communication (design of exchange and transfer events).
  • Technical and economic supervision and monitoring within the framework of calls and own projects (publication of calls, evaluation, resolution, justification, settlement and payment).
  • Attend the financial control and follow-up visits carried out by IGAE and the Court of Auditors.
  • Coordinate activities related to the planning, monitoring and control of impact and result indicators of the area, with a results-based management approach, for the annual report of the Action Plan, and coordinate work and actions with other areas of the FB.
  • Attend and participate in events, forums, and strategic processes that involve the participation of the FB. Organize and participate in meetings and events related to the projects managed, including the preparation of documents and presentations, etc., and make presentations on assigned topics and activities.
  • Prepare progress and results reports. Report on the status of the area’s projects in coordination and management meetings, as well as in external meetings. Prepare notes and communication materials.
  • To monitor developments in the state of the art and in terms of strategies, plans, regulations, programmes or projects related to the activities of the area and the Ministry of reference. Prepare and supervise the preparation of various written outputs (write notes and background papers, analyses, sections of reports and studies, contributions to
    publications, interventions, etc.).
  • Support in cross-cutting tasks that involve the preparation of joint reports, review of strategic documents, review of internal working documents, and participation in working groups for the coordination and monitoring of operational aspects in the management of aid.
  • Any other function entrusted by the Deputy and/or Direction of the Foundation.
  • University degree (also former Diploma and Bachelor’s degree) in Biology, Environmental Sciences, Geology, Agronomic Engineering, Forestry or other Earth Sciences.
  • Professional experience of at least ten years in management and coordination of projects related to environmental sustainability.
  • Experience of at least five years in team management.

CORE COMPETENCIES AND TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to adapt language, tone, style and format to suit the audience, and facility in sharing information and keeping people relevant to the accomplishment of their tasks informed.
  • Professional competence and mastery of subject matter; efficiency in meeting commitments, deadlines and achieving results; integration of a results-based approach in area planning, production of deliverables within prescribed time, cost and quality standards.
  • Teamwork: supports and accompanies subordinates, supervises and assumes responsibility for delegated assignments.
  • Master’s degree or higher in Biology, Environmental Sciences, Geology, Agronomic Engineering, Forestry or other Earth Sciences, Law, Economics, Politics or other similar degrees.
  • Specific training or experience of at least three years in bioeconomy projects in related areas such as forest exploitation, extensive livestock farming, rural development, demographic challenge and/or conservation and restoration of nature and/or the environment.
  • Experience of at least two years in the management of calls for aid and public funds.
  • Specific training or experience in the Public Sector Contracts Law and the General Subsidies Law.
  • Advanced English proficiency (Level C1 or above).
  • Immediate availability.
  • Temporary contract (work or service) in accordance with current legislation, with the professional category of coordinator.
  • Location of the position: Fundación Biodiversidad headquarters in Madrid.
  • Under the Biodiversity and Climate Change Subdirectorate.
  • Gross Annual Salary: €56,421.87
  • Expected duration: 3 years.
