Advice on the new challenges of the CAP in the agricultural sector of the region of Murcia

Empleaverde program

The project aims to contribute to the adaptation and modernisation of the sector in the face of the so-called New Environmental Challenges of the Community Agricultural Policy (CAP).

The project aims to contribute to the adaptation and modernisation of the sector in the face of the so-called New Environmental Challenges of the Community Agricultural Policy (CAP).

These challenges are the fight against and adaptation to climate change, energy efficiency and the use of renewable energies, more efficient management of resources (especially water resources) and the maintenance or increase of biodiversity.

The initiative seeks to maintain the wealth and employment generated by the agricultural sector in the rural areas of Murcia, a region in which this sector directly or indirectly generates many jobs. On the other hand, the agricultural sector provides society as a whole with another set of benefits, such as territorial cohesion, the maintenance of the landscape and the preservation of natural resources.

The project seeks to disseminate, train and provide personalised advice to the owners of agricultural holdings located in the different regions of the region, belonging to the different types of production existing in the region, so that they become aware of the importance of taking on the New Environmental Challenges of the CAP in their management.

In the case of the owners of the farms chosen to carry out the training action and, especially, among the farms with advice, it is intended that they acquire the minimum knowledge that allows the effective implementation on their farms of specific improvements in one or more of the lines of action inherent to these new challenges. These actions will serve, in turn, as an example for the dissemination of the concrete possibilities of applying these new challenges in the farms of the region.

The recipients of the project are the owners of agricultural or livestock farms, giving priority to the incorporation into the program, especially for training and advisory actions, to those of these farmers or ranchers who carry out their activity in the organic production system.
