The Asertos Programme develops a community regeneration of inhabited spaces in vulnerable neighbourhoods of Alicante. Since 2017, technical teams have been frequenting the areas with the greatest needs to discover resources, connect them and mobilize them with the aim of improving living conditions.
Thanks to this work and the ecofeminist approach from which we start, we know that women play a fundamental role in the maintenance and reproduction of life, assuming to a large extent the tasks linked to care. However, women also have the will to work in the productive sector, although they are very pigeonholed in certain hard and low-paid jobs.
Citizen participation in these vulnerable neighbourhoods of the city of Alicante is mostly female, they are women who have come together to attend in the same way as they do at home with their families, in the street with their neighbourhood, embarking on a struggle to get the care and services that the city offers to the rest of the neighbourhoods with greater economy.
From this observation, “Asertos & las Revocadoras” was born, all with the aim of creating employment, positioning women as a benchmark in the rehabilitation sector and revitalizing neighborhoods from within with a sustainable look by covering facades with natural materials.
The constructive ideology of the Asertos Program focuses on bioconstruction, a current of thought that goes beyond the Architecture that we frequently encounter today, seeking a balance with the environment and respecting it above all from the appropriate choice of materials and systems, bioclimatic design, energy efficiency, paying special attention to the social and economic dimension of the built space.
Within bioconstruction, coatings are an essential technique to promote a friendly aesthetic in our urban landscapes, to take care of the harmony between the architectural bodies that surround us and occupy our streets. The maintenance and care of the built elements and especially the facades is essential to promote a culture of care in the building as part of our urban decoration and landscape.
Natural coatings are a traditional technique that involves delicacy, constancy, and sensitivity. Through a wall we can express many things that not only serve to channel our emotions, but also to influence those of those who see it. Many of the techniques used to apply this craft involve an artistic expression that we do not use enough and with which we can condition and greatly improve our environment.
