BIMgreen: BIM and LCA technologies as a strategy to reduce environmental impact in construction

Empleaverde program

The project aims to increase the skills and qualifications of workers to improve their adaptation to the labour market towards the transition to a green economy in order to achieve smart, sustainable and integrated growth in the building sector.

The theme of the project is Rehabilitation and sustainable building.

Sustainable building has gained in importance in recent years. The meaning of sustainable building is the consideration of ecological, economic and social aspects in planning and construction processes and in real estate management. Internationally, sustainable building will be equated with the term green construction. Today, the issue of reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions is becoming more and more important.

The construction sector contributes significantly to global CO2 emissions (around 35-40%) and energy consumption (40% of total consumption), so construction products should have the lowest possible environmental impact in their manufacture and use, until their disposal, taking into account economic aspects.

Just 15 years ago, the calculation of CO2 emissions related to the energy certification of buildings was at the level of research, doctorates and scientific articles and is currently established at both legislative and academic level. This is the same leap that is expected from the Life Cycle Analysis of products and construction processes, promoting their inclusion and mandatory application in European regulations and directives.

On the other hand, taking into account the statements of Francisco Javier Martín, General Director of Architecture, Housing and Land of the Ministry of Public Works, 55% of the country’s homes were built before the first energy regulations and more than 90% before the Technical Building Code of 2006, so the

The need for renovation of the building stock and the potential for improvement is significant and, consequently, the consumption of construction materials will have a significant influence on the environment.

The percentage of participation of women in the project will be 30%, while the percentage of participation of other priority groups (sum of the rest of the groups except women) will be 30%.

The project will have an impact on the Natura 2000 Network.
