Connected to nature

Empleaverde program

The Iberian Southeast is an area with great biodiversity. Its high population means that the landscape has been profoundly altered, which makes the area more vulnerable to the effects of Global Change. The recovery of biodiversity and the restoration of connectivity between spaces is key when it comes to maintaining ecosystem services, that is, the processes that occur naturally thanks to the functioning of ecosystems and that are essential for human survival.

The integration of indigenous biodiversity into urban and agricultural areas improves the quality of life, human health and the efficiency of economic activities, such as agricultural production. In schools, it can also be a didactic tool to work in any area of teaching.

The projectConnected with Nature aims to promote measures for the promotion of biodiversity in human spaces, both in urban and agricultural areas, as well as in educational centers to use it as an educational resource. The actions will facilitate the design and management of green spaces and infrastructures to contribute to sustainability and the improvement of the quality of life of the population and workers, supporting the mitigation of climate change and adaptation to its effects through the recovery of ecosystem services.

To this end, training activities, advice and meetings between specialists and interested parties will be carried out in person and blended learning on the design of green infrastructure and the promotion of biodiversity in order to promote the creation of corridors and the recovery of ecosystem services.

The project began on July 1, 2021, and will run until March 2022. Its actions are carried out in the Autonomous Communities of the Region of Murcia, Andalusia and the Valencian Community and are completely free of charge for the recipients.

The project Connected with Nature: recovery of ecosystem services through biodiversity is developed by ANSE within the framework of the Empleaverde Program of the Biodiversity Foundation, an entity under the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, co-financed by the ESF, and has the collaboration of the City Council of Mazarrón and the Department of Sustainable City and European Projects of the City of Cartagena.
