The initiative is a project to promote green employment in the tourism sector, with a holistic vision in favor of the sustainable economy. Within the tourism sector, it will focus on rural tourism, nature tourism and cultural and natural tourism of environmental education.
The objective is to promote the consolidation of existing sustainable economic activities in this sector, through the improvement of its competitiveness and to promote, at the same time, both new private initiatives and new lines of green business that can favour in the medium and long term a transformation of the conventional tourism sector towards the new environmental culture. mainly in the communities of Castilla-La Mancha and Extremadura.
The initiative is a continuation and extension of the ecoTURAL project, developed in the Mediterranean area, since a strong demand for training has been observed in other territories on the topics offered. On the other hand, some new actions have been included that reinforce the idea of improving competitiveness and the creation of green jobs at the state level.
The recipients of the initiative are professionals and entrepreneurs belonging to or with an interest in the rural sustainable tourism sector:
- Workers in the tourism sector
- Tourism entrepreneurs and technicians
- Travel operators and agencies
- Entrepreneurs interested in sustainable tourism
- Tourism consultants and specialists in the internationalisation of tourism products
- Tour Guides
- Heritage interpretation technicians
Thanks to the project, 250 recipients will be trained, although the initiative will reach 455 workers. In addition, five new companies or lines of business will be created.
