For green entrepreneurship to have an effect and maintain its continuity, it is essential to approach the self-employed, not only to carry out better environmental practices, but also to guarantee their economic capacity through the creation of green self-employment.
The main objective of the “Emprende Forestal” project is to carry out actions aimed at promoting green entrepreneurship and the promotion of self-employment in the autonomous communities of Asturias, Extremadura and the Valencian Community.
To this end, the actions planned in this project are mainly training, advice and the creation of a green self-employment network.
The training focuses on the acquisition of knowledge and skills, which allow the start of self-employment. The evaluation and potential of the participants will be of very relevant importance, to encourage them to participate in the rest of the project, and the real start of self-employment.
As for advice, it will be personalized in the first steps, in the creation of companies and green self-employment. This advice will include the performance of a feasibility analysis, taking into account the geographical scope, exploitation and disbursement.
Finally, a green self-employment network will be created. This network will make it possible to know the true impact of the actions, maintain the effects of the actions undertaken over time and improve the possibilities of viability of the companies. It will also allow the future impacts to be quantified with the monitoring of entrepreneurs, for interested parties to learn about new lines of green business and to improve the knowledge and skills of entrepreneurs.
All these actions are aimed at the creation of green self-employment through the selection, collection and first energy transformations of: forest pruning, pruning waste from municipalities, vine pruning waste, manufacture of special land for crops, knowledge of business exploitation, transport, investment and sales lines and marketing plan.
The project is aimed at recipients who present the following typology:
- Workers located in rural areas, especially neighbors who return to their land.
- Entrepreneurs who want to launch green business initiatives.
- Workers belonging to disadvantaged groups: women, immigrants and low-skilled workers, who live or want to return to rural areas.
- Self-employed workers who need to increase their productivity or acquire new skills that allow them to maintain their quality of life through green self-employment.
Thanks to this project, training will be given to 180 recipients, although the initiative will reach 280 workers. In addition, 40 new entrepreneurs who start a green employment project related to forest biomass and 10 self-employed workers who create a new green self-employment business line, related to the first management of forest waste, will be advised and accompanied.
