Farmers for nature

Empleaverde program

“Farmers for Nature” aims to transform the threats produced by the relationship between agriculture and natural ecosystems, and turn them into opportunities and benefits.

“Farmers for Nature” aims to transform the threats produced by the relationship between agriculture and natural ecosystems, and turn them into opportunities and benefits.

Currently, intensive agriculture has to deal with difficulties created by the techniques used, progressively increasing costs. The aim is to solve these problems, thanks to the recovery of those functions that ecosystems develop naturally (nutrient recycling, fertility, pest regulation, pollination…) and that are increasingly scarce due to excessive intensification.

The project addresses the main objectives of the empleaverde programme, improving the training of farmers on more profitable techniques, improving employment and the quality of life of workers, promoting sustainable and respectful lines of business, and favouring the adaptation of farms to environmental regulations.

The association plans to continue with the line of work already started with the project “Farmers and Biodiversity, Allies by Nature”, covering new aspects and deepening those of greatest interest or usefulness for professional farmers and those who intend to start or reconvert their activity.

The target audience of the project is mainly agricultural workers, particularly farmers, although it will also include workers and managers of SMEs and micro-SMEs, self-employed workers (agricultural technical engineers, agronomists), and members of cooperatives or other agricultural marketing societies (from small-scale shops to societies).

The training of 240 recipients is planned, although the project will reach a total of 1,080 workers, and the creation of a company in the agricultural sector.
