GERMINAVA: Municipal School of Sustainable Gardening, Environment and Urban Renaturation

Empleaverde+ program

A 24-month project aimed at training (for one month) and then hiring (for 11 months) 48 unemployed people in skills related to sustainable gardening and urban renaturation. This project is complementary to another one of which the same entity is a beneficiary in the FB Cities call (Valladolid: Urban Biodiversity Paths that ends in December 2025). Given that one of the results of the project that is a beneficiary in the call for Cities is to carry out several plans, they need City Council personnel to be trained in them since a lack of qualified personnel with sufficient knowledge in gardening, the environment and urban renaturalization is detected to execute these plans.

The knowledge and skills they will acquire will be the following: installing, conserving and restoring outdoor and indoor gardens, adapting urban environments to the most extreme climatic conditions, carrying out plant production activities, operating and maintaining machinery and facilities, complying with environmental, quality control and occupational risk prevention regulations. All this from the rethinking of current urban models, from the creative use of new architectural solutions committed to the environment (eco-design) as well as from nature-based solutions, the presence of natural elements in cities will be achieved from an ecosystem approach.
