“Green and Local Employment” aims to contribute to the development of strategies to promote a socially just, environmentally sustainable and economically efficient development model, through the proposal of criteria to create sustainable activities that generate employment.

The initiative seeks to respond to the economic and environmental situation, which has negative effects on poor countries and also on industrialized and emerging countries.

The transition to a new, more efficient and sustainable energy generation model, and the use of urban, forestry or agricultural waste are decisive actions in the green economy and constitute the central core of green employment.

The recipients of the project are:

  • People working in the energy sector, especially the subsectors of wind energy, solar photovoltaic energy and biomass energy belonging to SMEs, and in the electrical installations sector which mainly groups SMEs and micro-SMEs.
  • Workers in the field of urban waste management in all its phases and related sectors belonging to SMEs who, on many occasions, work as subcontracted companies of industrial corporations or provide services to public administrations.
  • People who work in the conditioning, marketing and supply of biomass and related sectors belonging to SMEs.
  • Workers in the agricultural sector and others who generate energy-usable waste, belonging to SMEs.
  • People working in the forest management sector and related sectors belonging to SMEs.

Thanks to the project, 50 recipients will be trained, although it will reach 1,000 workers. On the other hand, the initiative will save 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 per year, after implementing the measures proposed in the sectors analysed.
