The project “Green Tourism. Green conversion of employment in the accommodation and catering sector” is aimed at training unemployed people in the transformation of the value chain of accommodation and catering businesses, including environmental management. This will contribute to the creation of green jobs in tourism-related businesses.
Within the framework of the Project, several 80-hour classroom training courses will be held in 3 locations in the Principality of Asturias and in one location in Galicia. Its recipients are unemployed people who are looking for a job in this sector, whether they have had some previous experience or not, and who take the opportunity to be trained in the necessary environmental awareness, which will also allow them to obtain a differential value to offer to employers in the sector.
The course will enable them to learn about the environmental problems of the production process in hotels, restaurants and cafeterias, analyze the raw materials used in the sector and possible environmental improvements, sustainable purchasing policy, waste management and nuisance activities, energy saving in the facilities, the kitchen of use, optimization in the control of food in restaurants, among other subjects. This training is very practical and responds to the real needs of the sector.
