The Balam Integrated Production Association (formerly API Galpagro) starts the project “Improvement of environmental skills and training for active workers in the agricultural sector”. The project has the Barrax Rural Innovation Hub Association as a collaborating entity. This project is a collaboration of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) through the call for the granting of subsidies, on a competitive basis, for workers within the framework of the Empleaverde Programme, co-financed by the European Social Fund. The duration of the project is 9 months, starting on July 1 and ending on March 31, 2022.
The aim of the project is to improve farmers’ skills in sustainability and digital innovation, to promote modern, competitive and sustainable agriculture. In addition, it seeks to promote the occupational safety of farmers in the face of COVID-19. To achieve these objectives, a training program is being developed both face-to-face and online. The courses will be taught in three autonomous communities: Andalusia, the Canary Islands and Castilla la Mancha. The Rural Innovation Hub El Valenciano is based in Andalusia. In Andalusia and the Canary Islands, the first course will begin at the end of August, and in Castilla la Mancha in October. The courses are aimed at farmers and technicians and it is a free action co-financed by the European Social Fund.
The training program consists of 4 modules:
- Digitalisation of irrigation processes.
- Centralisation and digitalisation of agricultural processes.
- Adaptation of field tasks to the context of COVID-19.
- Final project. Environmental and/or digital improvement in crops.
