Master in composting

Empleaverde program

Description: At Friends of the Earth we have demonstrated for years that composting is one of the most important tools to walk towards zero waste. Studies indicate that employment in this sector will increase significantly over the next few years This is due, on the one hand, to the need to comply with waste regulations and, on the other hand, to the fact that this is an area in which almost everything has yet to be done. In order to train unemployed people and prepare them for the coming years in which municipalities will have to separate the organic fraction of their municipal waste and manage it mainly by composting, and will need people with the necessary knowledge to do it correctly, Friends of the Earth is organizing these Master Composting courses.

Courses: 6 Master Composting courses will be held. The courses are free of charge and are aimed at unemployed people. Four courses will be held in Galicia and two in the Community of Madrid. The courses will have a duration of 50 classroom hours , both theoretical and practical, which will address the complete cycle of management of the organic fraction of waste, so that l@s tecnic@s capacitad@s can perform tasks such as:

  • Establish and advise participants in individual composting or home composting programs.
  • Composting promotion activities that include educational campaigns for all types of audiences.
  • Agro-composting maintenance and management tasks.
  • Perform maintenance and management of community composting areas.
  • Auxiliary work in composting plants.

At the end of the courses, successful participants will receive counseling and guidance in the search for employment to facilitate their insertion in accordance with their new skills. A search for job offers will be carried out, and entities (companies, administrations and associations) that are carrying out projects in which they can develop their professional work will be contacted.

Registration: If you are interested in participating in any of the courses that will take place in the Community of Madrid, you can send an email to residuosmadridnorte@tierra.org, for those that will take place in Galicia the email address is residuos@amigosdaterra.net. Write to us with your contact information and we will keep you informed.
