Empleaverde program

The aim of the project is to train company workers to boost the eco-innovative potential of their entities and implement new technologies that are more respectful of the environment.

The theme of the project is management, environmental improvement and eco-innovation in industry or company.

Large corporations and companies are, since the beginning of the industrial age, largely co-responsible for the environmental, ecological and resource scarcity problems that affect our planet.

In Spain, according to the Sustainability Observatory (2019), only 10 companies emitted 62% of total fixed GHG emissions in 2018. If we talk about sectors, it can be seen that the main polluting sector continues to be the burning of fossil fuels; that is, coal, fuel and gas, followed by cement, refineries and steel production.

In this context, business and the environment could be conceived as two opposing elements: not many years ago business (industry, construction, agriculture, etc.) was seen as a source of pollution and environmental destruction, and, for its part, it was thought that environmental concern was a brake on business development and job creation.

For this reason, companies play a fundamental role in the transition to more sustainable production models. In addition, it is increasingly clear that, contrary to the traditional view, the social and environmental responsibility of companies are values that allow them to increase their competitiveness, making it possible to differentiate, reduce costs, correctly manage risks and increase productivity and employee and customer satisfaction.

For all this, innovation plays a very important role: creating new ideas and solutions, generating changes that later yield positive results, is closely related to the social and environmental responsibility of companies.

To this end, a training programme will be carried out, in face-to-face and online modalities, completely free of charge for the recipients, aimed at workers in companies with potential and range of improvement in the implementation of eco-innovative initiatives.

All this with the ultimate objective of improving the skills and qualifications of the target workers in terms of sustainability in business activity, with the consequent improvements:

  1. on the part of employees: their contractual status, maintenance of employment and career progression, and
  2. on the part of companies: compliance with environmental legislation, Corporate Social Responsibility and SDGs, and their positioning and differentiation, by integrating their business strategy with new environmental, technological and innovation strategies.

The percentage of participation of women in the project will be 40%, while the percentage of participation of other priority groups (sum of the rest of the groups except women) will be 70%.
