Support will also be given to innovative initiatives in forest management or in the development of sustainable tourism. The project aims to create spin-offs by research groups or to transfer technology to companies. To this end, a set of actions will be carried out to support those professionals who wish to become entrepreneurs, as well as R+D+i groups from Spanish universities that wish to create spin-offs.
The entity will develop a network called ICT LABS IBERIA, made up of companies, associations and research centers, which it wants to give continuity to by making it the delegation in the Iberian Peninsula of the Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KIC) program of the European Union.
The initiative also offers incubation at its headquarters in Barcelona to the new companies created, for a maximum period of six months, as well as services that facilitate access to private (by business angels and VCs) and public financing for these new companies.
Finally, it is intended to promote the creation of new lines of business by existing companies, through technology transfer, accompaniment and mentoring in intrapreneurship, or advice in the search for financing for business growth.
The programme will be implemented in four autonomous communities, Catalonia, Madrid, Aragon and the Balearic Islands, with Catalonia having the greatest presence and the Balearic Islands where the least.
The recipients will be independent professionals, entrepreneurs, young university graduates, unemployed people, researchers from research groups or professionals from companies in various sectors: information and communication technologies, sustainable rehabilitation-building, sustainable tourism, specific activities related to climate change mitigation and adaptation, sustainable transport and mobility, organic agriculture and livestock, management of natural spaces, waste management and treatment, renewable energies, forest area management, environmental education and information and the automotive sector.
The project will achieve the following results:
- Training of 285 recipients, although the initiative will reach 361 workers.
- Creation of three companies in the field of ICT, energy efficiency, smart cities and smart spaces, management of forest areas.
