Sustainable development of the beekeeping sector

OBJECTIVE: To minimize the impact of climate change.

DESCRIPTION: There is evidence of the decline of pollinators worldwide. Key threats include land-use change, intensive management of agriculture and pesticide use, environmental pollution, invasive alien species such as the Asian hornet, pathogens, climate change, and natural predators in the environment. Being so diverse the factors that threaten bees, the Extremaduran beekeeping sector has managed to position itself among the most important, both in Extremadura and nationally, in terms of its economic and environmental value and, of course, for its great impact and social component, being one of the most localized sectors of our geography. To respond to these needs, a project is proposed with the following training actions:

• Mixed training for unemployed people who want to join the beekeeping sector. This training includes online sessions, and face-to-face sessions, which include practical practices, both in the laboratory and in the field.

• Face-to-face training, aimed at improving the employability of students in issues related to beekeeping management and production in the current context of beehive mortality. It will be developed through: 2 groups of 13 people in Extremadura and 1 group of 12 in Cádiz (same groups that receive the training in Mixed mode), to address both transversal issues of employability (self-knowledge, preparation of CV, preparation of interviews, communication) and specific issues of employment in the beekeeping sector (labor market, opportunities, transformation of jobs, channels and sources of green job search, etc.).

• Individual remote accompaniment, through 8 hours of individualized tutorials aimed at designing a personalized itinerary with each student, aimed at improving employability in sustainable construction, and based on their needs and profile, as well as the opportunities offered by the sector in the region.

AIMED AT: Unemployed people from Castilla – La Mancha, Canary Islands, Region of Murcia, Asturias, Andalusia, Extremadura and Galicia.
