OBJECTIVE: To provide knowledge for a transition towards a more sustainable and low environmental impact agriculture.
THEME: The environmental theme addressed by the project is sustainable agriculture and livestock.
DESCRIPTION: The Campo de Cartagena is a natural basin that is distributed by several municipalities of the Autonomous Communities of Murcia and Valencia. Intensive agriculture has been developed in this area, with great impact on the soil, aquifers, coastal water bodies (Mar Menor), etc. It is necessary to “reconvert or adapt” conventional intensive farming systems to other more sustainable techniques that are equally or more profitable than the existing ones. This requires a strong training, demonstration and support activity to achieve the transition to more sustainable systems.
