YOUNG FOREST: Qualification to take advantage of the multifunctional forest as a source of employment

The project aims to:

  • -Develop an innovative and multidisciplinary approach to teaching and learning in relation to forest products (“Wild Forest Product” – WFP) to obtain qualifications included in the National Catalogue of Qualifications of INCUAL (National Institute of Qualifications).
  • -Stimulate the entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial skills of rural workers to take advantage of the employment opportunities of forests based on the sustainability of employment and more competitive companies

The theme of the project is sustainable forest management and sustainable agriculture and livestock.

The YOUNG FOREST Project has been prepared taking into account the “2011 Forest Situation Report in Europe” which indicates that “in 2010 forestry employment in Europe exceeded 2.5 million PTE, with approximately 500,000 workers in the forest and 2 million in industry.

The YOUNG FOREST Project aims to:

a) Improving the employability of workers in SMEs and self-employed workers in the forestry sector to improve their adaptation to the labour market and increase their skills to fight against the depopulation of rural areas, which in many regions is the most important endogenous resource.

b) To provide training in two Autonomous Communities (Castilla y León and Cantabria) with professional qualifications in the forestry, agricultural and environmental sectors that involves training that serves to increase the skills of the recipients to improve their adaptation to the labour market that involves the enhancement of value in the rural areas of the Iberian forests.

(c) Face-to-face training courses, distance training courses and blended training courses with 30 per cent physical presence of the target audience, with programming that responds to the current and future needs of the forestry sector through projections of innovative qualifications leading to growth in the diversification of employability, with the participation of employers and forestry enterprises for the practical part provided for in all qualifications Professional.

The percentage of participation of women in the project will be 50%, while the percentage of participation of other priority groups (sum of the rest of the groups except women) will be 60%.

The project has an impact on RN 2000.
