ASÍ PESCA ALBORÁN – Technical Assistance for Sustainable Fishing in the Alboran Sea

General objective:

To carry out a diagnosis from the Granada fisheries sector to adapt to the priorities of the CFP and the financing objectives of the EMFF Operational Programme.

Specific objectives:

  • Identify the key elements to propose an action plan, in accordance with the fleet and the socio-economy of the sector, to facilitate a Sustainable Fisheries Management Plan for the Alboran Sea, which contributes to guaranteeing the recovery of fishing grounds.
  • Promote cooperation between managing bodies, the scientific community and fishermen, to prepare the sector towards a new governance that allows sustainable development through an ecosystem approach.
  • To obtain advisory and information services to the fishing sector in Granada, which will allow it to face the new challenges of the implementation of the Community Fisheries Policy and adapt, through the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, to the current situation of the fishing ground.
  • Carry out awareness-raising and dissemination actions to publicise the project and the studies and actions carried out

Description:

With the presentation of this project, the Fishermen’s Guild of the Port of Motril intends to be the beneficiary of a subsidy that will allow it to have technical personnel who are experts in fisheries management, who as external assistance will be responsible for carrying out feasibility studies of projects and professional advisory services, in order to improve the overall benefits, the competitiveness of fishermen and promoting sustainable fishing on the coast of Granada.

In order to achieve the objectives of the project, the following activities will be carried out:
A1. Diagnosis to identify the key elements of the action plan through technical assistance.

A2. Organization, coordination and development of the participatory process, through technical assistance.

A3. Professional Advice Line on Integrated Maritime Policy, through technical assistance.

A4. Awareness-raising and dissemination actions. Design, monitoring and execution of the project’s information and publicity plan, to be carried out by technical assistance.
