The main objective of this project has been the development of an underwater TV campaign aimed at estimating the density of Norway lobster burrows where they live, and to evaluate the abundance of the lobster stock in the Gulf of Cadiz.

This project has managed to achieve the proposed objective of quantifying the Norway lobster stock through underwater recordings that allow estimating the abundance, density and size of the stock in the Gulf of Cadiz. Indeed, the data obtained in this project have been very high and useful for the preparation of a future Management Plan for the SCI of the Mud Volcanoes of the Gulf of Cadiz.

To this end, the following activities have been developed within the framework of this initiative:

• Delimitation of the distribution area of the Norway lobster population
• Design of a campaign plan
• Realization of the underwater TV campaign
• Estimating the abundance of Norway lobster stock
• Characterization of habitats and quantification of macrofauna from underwater images
• Analysis of the relationship between environmental variables and the distribution and abundance of the species studied
• Integration of the information generated in the project into a GIS
