RAMGAF – Marine Reserves, Guarantee of the Future

Pleamar program

Description:

The project seeks to position the figure of Marine Reserves of Fishing Interest as a success story of social and environmental sustainability. In other words, it sought to highlight the value of the activity carried out over the last 30 years, generating strategies and media content for its current and future dissemination, which will allow throughout this project to achieve high levels of media valuation, which raise awareness among the general population, motivating collective actions between sectors and serving as justification within the private sector for companies and their foundations for their participation and financing. Communication to the entire set of foundations has focused on arousing interest and showing marine reserves as a clear opportunity for private entities.

General Objective:

To position the figure of Marine Reserves of Fishing Interest as a success story of social and environmental sustainability.

Specific objectives:

  1. Have audiovisual documents descriptive of the values of the Marine Reserves of Fishing Interest prepared for dissemination and presentation to the media.
  2. Generate documentary content positioning the Marine Reserves as a guarantee of the future.
  3. To raise awareness among the general public about the values of Marine Reserves.
  4. Position the project for the participation of private entities.

The RAMGAF: Marine Reserves, Guarantee of the Future contributed to positioning the figure of Marine Reserves of Fishing Interest as a success story of environmental and social sustainability. This was achieved through the collection of information, in close collaboration with the General Secretariat of Fisheries of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA), on the activities carried out in the Marine Reserves of Fishing Interest in different areas: artisanal fishing, scuba diving, leisure, tourism, history, culture and science. The most appropriate material has been selected for use in the written press, social networks, web and free-to-air broadcasts and pay channel. It should be noted that this material may be used in future dissemination activities in the short and medium term at national and international level. In addition, and taking into account the information collected, projects that could be subject to private financing were identified.

Different awareness-raising actions were also carried out with the creation of eight audiovisual short films on topics related to marine reserves (dissemination, diving, decalogue, surveillance service, etc.), as well as a technical campaign manual, an environmental presentation and eight roll-ups for exhibitions in public spaces – Alicante airport, the Moda Shopping and Sambil shopping centres in Madrid, the National Museum of Natural Sciences, the ADIF train station in Atocha and Chamartín (Madrid), the AENA exhibition at Alicante airport and various schools in Madrid, Almeria and Soria – on the values of marine reserves. This approach has made it possible to raise awareness and transmit the message about its particularities and the importance of its conservation to a diverse audience, in terms of age and social context.

Finally, the project has included various communications to international diving certifiers – such as PADI, ACUC and ABRE – with information of interest that affects marine reserves, such as the Responsible Recreational Diving Criteria, to disseminate on their channels and to their associates.
