BIODECART. Development and consolidation of the bioeconomy in Artenara.

This project aims to consolidate the circular bioeconomy in Artenara through the use of forest and agricultural resources. To this end, it will modernise the biomass centre, establish regular supply agreements to the Cabildo and install compost and vermicompost crushing equipment. In addition, to prevent forest fires, they plan to create firebreak strips of different widths (25-50 m), clean ditches (35 km), carry out preventive silvicultural treatments and establish 6 strategic water points. In terms of dissemination, a communication and awareness plan will be drawn up and at least 6 conferences will be held.

Strategic importance

Actions

The project seeks to consolidate the circular bioeconomy in Artenara through the use of forest and agricultural resources. To this end, it will carry out the modernization of the biomass center with an expected production capacity of 550 t/year, to produce pellets and briquettes, the preparation of a business plan, and the establishment of regular supply agreements to the council of the raw material. The installation of compost and vermicompost shredding equipment (100 t/year), from the transformation of plant biomass from pruning and thinning (from the project itself), as well as the selective organic fraction collected locally from the new brown container, which will be used for agriculture and gardening in the area, in line with the principles of the circular bioeconomy.

As for the prevention of forest fires, it includes the creation of firebreak strips of different widths (25-50 meters), cleaning of ditches (35 km), preventive silvicultural treatments (whose biomass used of 90 tons) and the establishment of 6 strategic water points, whose biomass generated will be used in the municipal biomass plant. They have the calculation of the reduction of the carbon footprint, a communication and awareness plan with a minimum of 6 days and distribute at least 1,500 informative materials.
