The proposal constitutes a strategic action for the conservation and restoration of the coastal ecosystems of Andalusia, aligned with the National Green Infrastructure Strategy and the Plan for the recovery of species and habitats of dunes, sandbanks and coastal cliffs. These ecosystems, essential for biodiversity and the provision of key ecosystem services, face increasing anthropogenic and climatic pressures. The project integrates genetic analysis, functional connectivity assessment and ecosystem services study, strengthening the adaptive capacity of endangered species and providing key information for managers, improving the resilience of the Andalusian coast to climate change.
To improve knowledge of the ecosystems of dunes, sandbanks and coastal cliffs in Andalusia, in order to improve their management and their role within the Green Infrastructure.
The project carries out actions such as taking samples in the field and characterizing the genetic diversity of the species. It analyzes gene flow between populations and integrates this data into spatial connectivity studies. It quantifies the ecosystem services of the main habitats and the functions of key species in their provision. Design a seed bank based on genetic data and develop correlative models of genetic makeup. Finally, it promotes the co-generation of knowledge with managers and promotes the dissemination and communication of the project’s results.
