As a result of the project’s actions, an area of 141,981m2 will be renaturalized.
In addition to having a good local strategic framework beforehand, a Green Infrastructure Strategy is proposed that describes, diagnoses and establishes guidelines that achieve improvements in the resilience of the city and significantly increase the ecosystem benefits of vegetation. The actions included in the proposal are based on several previous participatory processes developed within the framework of the local Urban Agenda.
4 actions are proposed that increase the surface area of green infrastructure in the neighborhoods and achieve more ecologically functional spaces thanks to the diversification of vegetation: 1) removal of impermeable pavement and installation of drainage pavements and expansion of vegetated tree pits with shrub and herbaceous species; 2) recovery and renaturalization of vacant spaces and deteriorated green areas; 3) creation of an urban forest and improvement of ecological connectivity. Establishment of shelter, breeding and feeding elements for fauna and installation of rain gardens and 4) creation of ecological corridors that connect the peri-urban environment, the main green areas and the city center.
