The project proposes a circular scheme of territorial management aimed at the forest bioeconomy, fire prevention and biodiversity conservation, integrating technological innovation and participatory methodologies. To this end, it will update the planning and drafting instruments of Municipal Fire Prevention Plans and will develop a Forest Management Instrument to declare 586 ha as a protective forest. In addition, it will boost the production of 25 t of certified biochar and around 300 m³ of microbial and fungal compost. All this is intended to achieve results related to ecosystem services (carbon credits for 10,000 ha), the protection of biodiversity and pest control (through the creation of refuges for birds, mammals and other faunal groups in 1,200 ha) and communication and transferability (interpretive routes, conferences and an agriculture course).

The development of a pilot project for multifunctional territorial management that facilitates the interrelationship between forestry, agriculture and livestock activity and promotes the bioeconomy and biodiversity.

The specific objective of the project is to develop a pilot project of multifunctional territorial management that facilitates the interrelationship between forestry, agricultural and livestock activity and promotes the bioeconomy and biodiversity. This model, which can be replicated in other Mediterranean areas, seeks the integration of different sectors, through the use, on the one hand, of classic resources from agricultural and forestry systems and on the other of new innovative products and services such as bioproducts andCO2 certification that allow the generation of economically sustainable mosaic landscapes. biologically more diverse and resistant to the disturbances and effects of climate change, also promoting advanced forest management, regenerative agriculture and extensive livestock farming as fundamental elements of the bioeconomy and the improvement of biodiversity in rural areas.

  • Spatial planning for sustainable forest management
  • Innovation for the mobilization of wood products.
  • Validation of the standardized methodology for the certification of carbon credits.
  • Generation of bioproducts through the thermochemical transformation of forest remains.
  • Application of bioproducts on agricultural farms for the use of chemical products and increased productivity.
  • Measures to promote extensive livestock farming through comprehensive control of the territory.
  • Recovery of green water-related infrastructures. A.8 Measures to promote biodiversity.
  • Communication, replicability and transfer of results.
  • Coordination, management, evaluation and justification of the project.

A Forest Management Instrument will be developed to declare 586 ha as protective forest in Extremadura and to install demonstration stands of silviculture close to nature. The production of certified biochar (25 t from 200 t of forest remains), activated with microbial and fungal compost (250 m³ and 50 m³), with agricultural application and as a green filter in wetlands, will be promoted, together with demonstration days and a course on organic farming.

Among the results, a carbon credit methodology will be developed for 10,000 ha, with improvement of pastures (20 ha), creation of 10 watering troughs and micro-reserves, restoration of 35 irrigation ditches and biochar filters in the lagoons of Puebla de Beleña. Interpretive routes and biodiversity actions are also planned on 1,200 ha with collaboration agreements on specific farms.
