The project acts both on several degraded areas in the southwestern area of the capital (on the border with the region of La Vega) which has historically suffered significant floods and floods, and in the northern area of Granada, with significant lack of facilities. In addition to the reforestation of the spaces, one of the plots will be provided with hydraulic functionality to minimise the effects of flooding on adjacent built-up areas, a fact that will be used to create new habitats for the settlement of poultry species. Finally, abundant green areas for leisure and recreation will be created, which is especially important for some sectors (SG EL-01 Azulejera, Corredor Norte and PP I-5), located in vulnerable areas and with notable deficiencies in terms of equipment. The actions have been designed taking into account the impact of climate change, especially through the selection of species adapted to future climate scenarios. Likewise, the increase in green area of the proposed actions will favour the reduction of the heat island effect, one of the effects of climate change that will be amplified in urban environments, which means a reduction in temperature in the areas surrounding the intervention. The actions will transform the green and blue infrastructures of the municipality, and will also implement models of participatory co-governance, giving the actions an open, dynamic and bidirectional character: from and to citizens and the administration.
Some of the actions that will be carried out are:
