PRTR Call for Proposals Project

The project pursues the restoration of river ecosystems and the reduction of flood risk in the urban environment of the Chorrito del Valle stream. To this end, it will promote actions to improve the ecological status of the stream’s river system and implement nature-based solutions to prevent floods.

Aljaraque (Huelva) has had problems for years due to flooding in the vicinity of several streams that run through its municipality. The project will act in the area of the Chorrillo del Valle Stream, improving the general state of conservation and the ecological functions of the ecosystems and the microclimate associated with the channel. It will also be responsible for controlling the influence of vegetation on the transport capacity of the channel in floods, the topographic adaptation of the riparian areas for the lamination of the flow and the retention of the substrate for the stabilization of the riparian system.
