The rural abandonment of the last decades, together with climate change, make these forest areas very vulnerable and threaten the provision of ecosystem services. In this context, different industrial projects linked to the bioeconomy can promote a boost in the use of forest biomass, creating the possibility of generating new bioproducts and innovative applications, in order to create a new industrialized regional bioeconomy.
BIOFORIN is a strategic project to promote the regional bioeconomy and climate resilience by promoting research and development of new value-added applications in the market, bringing together the entire value chain, from forest owners to industrial end users, to generate a model of sustainable forest management oriented to industrial use.
Develop a strategy for a bioregional management model of forest resources for industrial use that contributes to the generation of high value-added products and applications.
