Green Ring of Ponferrada (AVP)
PRTR Call for Proposals Project
The project focuses on the creation of the Green Belt of Ponferrada, as a key piece in the green and blue infrastructure of the municipality, which will improve urban biodiversity indices, recover certain areas degraded by old land uses linked to coal mining and restore riverside ecosystems occupied by invasive exotic species. These enclaves have been selected for their great potential to act as areas for mitigating the effects of climate change, as scenarios for practical and close environmental education, as well as strategic points to promote the presence of urban and peri-urban biodiversity.

Nature and Man Foundation
The connections that the AVP will generate will create ecological corridors and promote sustainable mobility, as well as improving the quality of life of citizens by facilitating access to new green spaces, as it connects with three routes of special natural, environmental and cultural interest. The route of the Templar Castles that connects the castle of Ponferrada with that of Cornatel through the Winter Way of St. James, the route of the fragas del Sil to the north and the southern route that reaches Palacios de Compludo and its ornithological reserve.
