PRTR Call for Proposals Project

The project aims to increase the capacity of the facilities of the Neotropic Foundation’s Wildlife Recovery Centre to guard confiscated or found free CITES specimens in the natural, rural or urban environment. Increase training activities for the Security Forces and Public Administration personnel and awareness campaigns.

Coordinating entity:

Contribute to the control of international trade in wildlife and protected species and fight against illegal trafficking to improve the conservation of biodiversity and natural ecosystems. The main mechanism is the increase in the capacity of the facilities of the Wildlife Recovery Centre of the Neotropic Foundation, for the custody of CITES specimens confiscated or found free in the natural, rural or urban environment, and training activities for the Security Forces and personnel of the Public Administrations, as well as awareness campaigns.

Some of the actions contemplated by this project are:

  • Hiring of two people to expand the staff of specialized caregivers of the center (With Certificate of Professionalism AGAN 0312).
  • Acquisition of new terrariums and modular enclosures to increase the capacity of specimens in custody.
  • Adaptation of pre-existing enclosures and accommodation.
  • Interactive virtual visits by live online video streaming (non-face-to-face) to the CRF facilities of the Neotropic Foundation.
