New industrial facility for preparation for the recycling of post-consumer textile waste

PRTR Call for Proposals Project

The entity TEXLIMCA, S.A., dedicated to the management of textile waste, proposes a project based on the implementation of a new facility at its plant in Alzira (Valencia) to carry out a first stage of preparation for reuse and a second stage of preparation for final recycling, based on an adequate classification of textile waste. Investments in systems and infrastructures will improve the sorting of textile waste through the implementation of advanced sorting technologies (optical sorting, fibre identification by spectroscopy and the use of artificial intelligence) that will increase efficiency and accuracy for the sorting of textile waste by composition, colour and type of fabric, obtaining a quality secondary raw material.

Create a clothing and laundry workshop to fix and clean clothes, increasing the percentage of PxR. Automate the sorting of non-reusable garments to improve the quality and quantity destined for fiber-to-fiber recycling (upcycling). Create an interactive classroom to raise awareness about textile prevention, reuse and recycling. Improve traceability within the plant to efficiently manage large volumes of textile waste. The main result pursued by the project is to prevent 6,860 tonnes of post-consumer textile waste from ending up in landfill, this amount will be the treatment capacity of the new plant proposed with the project.
