New waste treatment method to generate new raw materials for the textile sector

PRTR Call for Proposals Project

The company RECUPERADOS LLACER, S.L., dedicated to the treatment of post-industrial textile waste for the generation of recycled cotton-polyester fibres, proposes a project for the implementation, on a plot adjacent to its current facilities in Ontinyent (Valencia), of a new plant based on the treatment of post-consumer textile waste for the elimination of improper waste. such as zippers and buttons, so that this textile waste can be processed in a conventional way in the entity’s own mechanical defibering process, preventing ready-made clothing waste from ending up in landfills or incinerators. The waste that is intended to be treated in the new facility will come from third parties, specifically from the selective collection of the municipalities. The investment consists of an industrial warehouse in which the waste treatment system will be implemented with an intelligent warehouse. The new process will include an initial phase of preparation of the material by reducing the size, a second phase of elimination of improper through the new system to be implemented that consists of three large metal cylinders, placed in a line and provided with large nails whose function is to separate the improper ones, tearing the textile, and a third phase of pressing, weighing and labelling the resulting material that will be stored for later use in the defibering lines.

Implement a new specialized system in the treatment of post-consumer textile waste based on the elimination of improper elements, such as zippers and buttons, so that this textile waste can be processed in a conventional way for the manufacture of new recycled raw material for the textile sector. As the main result of the project, the treatment of 2,217,600 kg per year of post-consumer textile waste from the selective collection of municipalities is proposed, preventing these materials from suffering a less sustainable recovery process or ending up in landfill or incinerated.
