Martorell City CouncilReducing the risk of flooding in the urban area of the Vila de Martorell neighbourhood requires improving the hydraulic behaviour of the final section of the Anoia River at its confluence with the Llobregat River. To achieve this, the execution of a motte of land for the defense of the floods in the area called Horta de la Vila and the recovery of the floodable plain between the river and the new mota are proposed. The green infrastructure created will configure the new river façade of the Vila neighbourhood, incorporating in the protected area a viewpoint route of the river area and an urban park that connects with the existing river paths. The action also aims to improve the quality of life of citizens and resilience to climate change
Some of the actions included in this project are:
- Obtaining land to execute the new green infrastructure
- Construction of the new motte – green infrastructure
- Urban renaturalisation of the river façade of the Vila de Martorell neighbourhood
- Environmental improvement of the banks of the Anoia River.
- Implementation of emergency prevention and management systems
