On November 11, 2021, the city of Soria made official its
commitment to be a carbon-neutral city by 2030 and presented its Soria 2030 Roadmap made and signed by more than 29 organizations of society, where the levers to unlock the transformation and achieve this goal are identified and detailed.

BRERA is the materialization of Tractor Action 1: Improving resilience and increasing carbon sinks” and their respective lines of action and objectives. Therefore, BRERA has been conceived for and with citizens and presents a holistic development that recovers, restores, connects and expands the green areas, biodiversity and ecosystem wealth of the city, considering them as valuable assets of sustainability of the territory and as fundamental elements to face climate challenges.

BRERA was born from a collaborative work of the community and presents a governance scheme that guarantees its involvement throughout the life of the project, committing itself to its care, maintenance and replication.

One of its main focuses is the creation of habitats for the breeding of pollinators, amphibians, and for the nesting of birds and bats. In addition, BRERA has developed a computer application to make a biodiversity inventory that allows the impact of the actions to be monitored with the participation of experts and citizens, especially the school community.
