From 25 to 29 September, the 12th European Congress of Ecology was held in Ávila, organised by the Spanish Association of Terrestrial Ecology.
The congress served to transmit knowledge and the main conclusions of the most recent research in the field of ecology, both among scientists and specialists and to various segments of society. Within the framework of the event, the X National Congress of the Spanish Association of Terrestrial Ecology (AEET) and the III Iberian Congress of Ecology were held simultaneously, the latter in partnership with the Portuguese Society of Ecology (SPECO).
In addition, pre- and post-congress activities were designed (workshops, field days, etc.) and various sessions of expansion and fraternization among the congressmen.
The attendance was about 1,000 people, including researchers, professionals and students of Environmental Sciences and Biology, from teaching and research centers throughout Europe.
The meeting has managed to meet the following objectives:
- Sharing of the results of the latest research and the application of novel techniques in the field of ecology (climate change and diagnosis, conservation and restoration of ecosystems, etc.).
- To give visibility to the conclusions obtained at the congress and to make them available to the public administration and the general public.
- To create a precedent in the celebration of sustainable scientific congresses in Spain. The meeting has had the advice of a team specialized in the organization of sustainable events.
