A commitment to value the figure of the River Nature Reserves

MITECO

The project aims to highlight the figure of River Nature Reserves by creating participatory models and tools for their management and informing about the social, economic and environmental opportunities that these spaces can represent for local populations.

Within the framework of this initiative and more specifically, the first objective is to develop a management plan in a River Reserve (FLR), within which the selection of a representative NFR, coordination meetings with the General Directorate of Water, the Hydrographic Confederation and other bodies will be carried out. It is also estimated to establish contact with key actors; local entities, water users, technicians of the Hydrographic Confederation, technicians of the Autonomous Community or municipal officials. Once the relationship with the different institutions has been established, sectoral and/or intersectoral meetings will be held, which will be accompanied by communication and dissemination activities among the local population (talks, excursions, etc.).

Another of the actions that are part of the project is the enhancement of the Natural River Reserves, therefore, work will be done on the design of a route with the main values of the RNF as well as the edition of a brochure, the drafting of the management plan, edition and publication of the management document and the methodological process. Once completed, the results will be presented in the territory of the RNF and to the General Directorate of Water and Hydrographic Confederation and visits will be hosted with personnel from competent bodies (technicians from Autonomous Communities, Confederations from other demarcations, local bodies, social entities, etc.).

Secondly, among the different activities that are part of the project is the creation of an information campaign on River Nature Reserves. This campaign is made up of different actions that include the collection of information, the writing, publication and dissemination of a brochure on the nature of the RNF, socio-economic-environmental opportunities and visits with the media to unique River Nature Reserves.
