The actions of this project are aimed at promoting appropriate management measures for the habitat of the Iberian imperial eagle on private farms, acting jointly with the owners in management and conservation.

The project follows the basic criteria of the National Strategy for the Conservation of the Iberian Imperial Eagle of the Ministry of the Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs. The area of action is the eastern Sierra Morena and the Campo de Montiel in the province of Ciudad Real, which has more than 20 pairs of imperial eagles (including the bordering areas in the province of Jaén), a figure that represents 10 percent of the total breeding population of the Iberian imperial eagle.

This initiative also aims to contribute to the training of personnel and the exchange of experiences between owners of private farms through the study of management models, in addition to improving the quality of the eagle’s habitat by promoting specific management measures that are compatible with the ecological needs of the species. All this will also be a great advance in terms of reducing threats to the species, in particular electrocution, poisoning and lack of food.

Likewise, the planned actions are aimed at raising awareness in society in general and, in particular, in that which shares the territory with the species, seeking to establish a constructive debate between sectors linked to the conservation of the Iberian imperial eagle and productive activities in the areas where the species is usually present.
