The initiative aims to achieve the conservation of this species in the north of the Alboran Sea, waters that make up the westernmost part of the Mediterranean Sea.

The initiative aims to achieve the conservation of this species in the north of the Alboran Sea, waters that make up the westernmost part of the Mediterranean Sea.

Under the title “Analysis of strandings, awareness actions and proposal of a Conservation Plan for the common dolphin (Delphinus delphis) in the north of the Alboran Sea”, this project includes the following actions:

  1. Statistical analysis of the data of stranded animals from the Stranding Network of the Ministry of the Environment of the Junta de Andalucía.
  2. Carrying out awareness-raising actions in schools and a campaign in the Aula del Mar centre in Malaga aimed at visitors.
  3. Identification of proposals for the conservation of the species together with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the Ministry.
