This project is part of the Destinations+Resilientes program of the Eco-union association, and whose objective has been to promote the decarbonization of tourism and the adaptation of destinations to climate change.
Eco-union was a beneficiary in the 2017 Call for Grants for the implementation of projects in the field of adaptation to climate change with the “ADAPTUR” project that aims to promote strategies for the adaptation of tourist destinations to climate change.
ADAPTUR is a project aimed at promoting adaptation strategies in coastal and mountain destinations in Spain. Through the development of climate change adaptation guides, keys and instructions are offered to develop strategies in tourist destinations.
To contextualise the guides, two case studies were selected: Calvià (Mallorca) and the region of La Jacetania (Aragonese Pyrenees), where two technical reports on tourism and climate change policies and two workshops with local agents were carried out. These reports were presented in working sessions with local agents. In these working sessions, the content focused on two areas: awareness and co-creation of climate services for the adaptation of tourism to climate change.
In a third territory, Barcelona, a conference-workshop was organised on climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies in coastal destinations. The project involved more than 20 experts, and more than 50 local agents participated. On the other hand, knowledge has been transferred to more than 100 local agents in Aragon, the Balearic Islands and Catalonia.
