The initiative seeks to recognize and in turn make known to society as a whole the role that rural women play in sustainable development.
A role that these women play as the backbone of the territory in the social sphere and diversifiers in the economic aspect, combined with respect for the environment and awareness of its importance.
The specific objectives are:
- To identify artisans, entrepreneurs and businesswomen who participate in the Network @rtemur as potential participants, based on the analysis of their business experience in terms of biodiversity conservation and adoption of sustainable production methods.
- Promote the implementation of empowerment processes, based on participation in the design and launch of the different activities of the program, through shared decision-making by the beneficiaries of the program.
- To disseminate entrepreneurial and business experiences in the field of crafts that involve sustainable, local and seasonal production, as well as the conservation of natural heritage.
- To raise awareness among the population about the importance of responsible consumption, also in rural areas, by publicising the manufacturing processes of products and handicrafts.
Most of the environmental and social impacts occur in these manufacturing processes. The damage is caused by the extraction of raw materials and is also due to the pollution resulting from these transformation processes. It is essential to know the criteria that allow the design of a product to be evaluated, as a key element to achieve improvements in its environmental performance.
Among the activities to be developed within the framework of the initiative is the creation of ten co-management groups of the programme at the territorial level, to promote the implementation of empowerment processes for the design of different actions. The program will be made up of 150 women entrepreneurs and businesswomen and 30 representatives of different public administrations.
In addition, the @rtemur Fair will be held and a national campaign will take place to disseminate the project through posters, leaflets, a website and press releases and to value the entrepreneurial and business experiences carried out. There will also be workshops under the name “Bioartesanía” and activities to publicize the artisans.
