Awareness and protection of the landscape in the Menorca Biosphere Reserve

The aim of the project is to learn about the perception of the Menorcan landscape by island society and to disseminate its knowledge.

Thus, the current perception of the Menorcan population about the island’s landscape will be studied, and information and training will be provided to the different social agents on the concept of landscape and its practical application in Menorca. In addition, the current vision of the island’s landscape will be analysed through the information provided by citizens.

We will also work with secondary school teachers, who will be provided with a didactic unit on landscape, so that it is a cross-cutting theme to be included in the school curriculum.

The planned actions are:

Preparation of a didactic unit on the landscape for secondary school students.
Carrying out a survey of the entire population (resident and seasonal) to find out their perception of the Menorcan landscape.
Celebration of a conference on the landscape focused on the different agents of the island.
Preparation of a workshop open to citizen participation and a round table with landscape experts.
