It is a project aimed at the inmates of the Madrid I and Madrid IV Penitentiary Centres.
The initiative “Biodiversity Classroom in Penitentiary Centers” consists of the development of a series of conferences, workshops and round tables on environmental issues, with the aim of raising awareness among the inmate population in prisons about the values of care and respect for the environment.
The activities to be carried out seek to develop appropriate information and training, together with the inmates of the prisons where the Biodiversity Classroom takes place, so that they can learn about the environmental situation of their environment. It also aspires to provide a framework for reflection and analysis on the environmental reality that inmates see every day in their environment.
Among the specific actions planned, there is the construction of an environmental assessment document based on the contributions of the guests and the inmates on the most outstanding aspects discussed in the Biodiversity Classroom, as well as a sustainability manual.
