This initiative seeks to improve the general state of biodiversity in a territory of about 132,600 hectares, which includes the Natura 2000 areas of Campo de Azaba and Campo de Argañán, in Salamanca, and Malcata, in Portugal.
This initiative seeks to improve the general state of biodiversity in a territory of about 132,600 hectares, which includes the Natura 2000 areas of Campo de Azaba and Campo de Argañán, in Salamanca, and Malcata, in Portugal.
All these spaces are dominated by an open Mediterranean forest ecosystem for livestock use (dehesa).
More specifically, the project aims to:
- Improvement of the conservation status and increase in demographic levels of five species of birds.
- Increase in the area and improvement of conservation of seven protected habitats.
- Development of biodiversity assessment indicators, habitat quality indices and protocols for sustainable habitat management 6310 (evergreen pastures of Quercus sp).
The specific actions planned are the following:
- Preparatory actions.
- Land purchase actions.
- Concrete conservation actions.
- Public awareness actions and dissemination of results.
- Project evaluation actions.
