The purpose of the project is to collaborate in the improvement of the living conditions of the inhabitants of the Transboundary Biosphere Reserve of the Senegal Delta and the wetlands of southwestern Mauritania.
The purpose of the project is to collaborate in the improvement of the living conditions of the inhabitants of the Transboundary Biosphere Reserve of the Senegal Delta and the wetlands of southwestern Mauritania.
These are actions to support the Comprehensive Project of regional importance developed by the AECID in the area, within the framework of the Orange Blossom Programme.
On the ecological level, the main challenges of the activities designed are to achieve the restoration of ecosystems and all the biodiversity associated with them, given the increase in pressure to which they are subjected and the deficiencies in hydraulic management.
From the social point of view, the goal is to solve the existing difficulties in the supply of drinking water, as well as to alleviate the diseases linked to water stagnation, low schooling, lack of medical assistance and the absence of electricity.
On the other hand, these actions aim to improve the standard of living of the populations and reduce the poverty rate, since the starting point was the absence of financial mechanisms to support income-generating activities.
